Ohio’s oil and natural gas resources offer an unprecedented business advantage.

The Ohio surplus of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids provided by the Utica and Marcellus shale plays is the largest reserve in the United States and situated along the Mid-Ohio valley. From drilling to production, Ohio offers a comprehensive supply chain for oil and gas fractionators, processors, refineries, and manufacturers looking to locate or expand in the premiere destination for strategic growth.

In the video released by Shale Crescent U.S.A., an economic investment initiative helping companies leverage the Utica and Marcellus shale plays, Ohio industry leaders identify the natural resources in Ohio making the state an economic powerhouse in the energy industry.

Companies leveraging the Utica shale play are estimated by 2020 “to account for 35 to 40 percent of the total U.S. natural gas production,” said Dr. Benjamin Thomas, associate professor of Petroleum Engineering and Geology at Marietta College. Experts believe close proximity to the Utica shale formation gives Ohio and neighboring states the ability to produce enough natural gas to meet U.S. demand for years to come.

In fact, PTTGC America has selected Belmont County, Ohio, as a potential site for a world-scale ethane cracker plant and continues to invest heavily in the region during the company’s site evaluation.

Ohio’s central location offers companies great access to raw materials, an integrated multimodal logistics infrastructure, and 60 percent of the U.S. and Canadian manufacturing within a single day’s drive. A competitive business environment and growing talent pool of dedicated, skilled workers makes Ohio the ideal destination to locate or expand operations.
