Getting Around

Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

Planning to explore Cleveland via public transportation? RTA provides public transportation throughout Cleveland and 58 surrounding municipalities.

Once downtown, visitors can ditch their cars and either walk around the city or ride one of the Regional Transit Authority’s (known to Clevelanders as RTA) buses and rail routes into surrounding neighborhoods and inner-ring suburbs.

Free Trolleys

RTA offers five downtown trolley routes – COMPLETELY FREE – that run every 10-15 minutes, seven days a week. All trolleys connect with other transit at Public Square, including the Red Line train from the airport. Just look for the charming green trolley buses around downtown that can take you to places such as:

  • Attractions: The Cleveland Convention Center, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, PlayhouseSquare, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Great Lakes Science Center and Voinovich Park
  • Downtown Districts: Historic Warehouse District, East 4th Street, Historic Gateway District and Theater District
  • Hotels: Hampton Inn Downtown Cleveland, Doubletree Downtown/Lakeside, Ritz-Carlton Cleveland, Wyndam Hotel at PlayhouseSquare, Holiday Inn Express Downtown, Hyatt Regency at the Old Arcade, Marriott Key Center and the Renaissance Cleveland
